Beamriders at Smash
11/8/16


It was a clash of Action Network leaders fighting for first place.

The Beamriders offense blasted off with a big opening drive which ended in a field goal. The Beamriders led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.


The Beamriders took a 9-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter. The Smash then kicked three field goals to tie it at 9 with 3:46 left in the half.


The Beamriders got two big interceptions and scored 10 points in the last 3 minutes of the half to take the lead 19-9 at halftime.


Both teams continued to fight hard in the 3rd quarter, then the Smash went on an incredible run of three field goals and four interceptions, starting off the fourth quarter with a touchdown to take the lead 25-19. The ball was in Beamriders territory for about 8 minutes.


The Beamriders finally got the ball out of their territory around the middle of the fourth quarter and scored a touchdown with 7 mins left in the game. The Beamriders kept trying to rally, but the Smash held on to win 28-26.

This was the most competitive game in IFL history. No matter what the Beamriders tried to do, they couldn't keep the Smash down. This victory for the Smash ended up securing them the Action Network championship, and later became league champions.



INTV Bowl III: Smash v. Armada

The third league championship game was a battle of interstellar supremacy at the Destroyers Dome. The Armada came into the game as the best team in the league with the best offense and a tough defense. The Smash were riding a big late season offensive surge.


It was a tough defensive fight as expected. The Smash took a 6-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. There were 10 combined interceptions in that quarter alone.


Armada got their first score with 5 minutes left in the first half. The Smash stopped them at the one yard line, and the coach made the controversial decision to kick a field goal.

Armada got a big drive going at the end of the first half, but the Smash stopped it with an interception. There were 17 total interceptions in just the first half.


Both teams fought each other in the 3rd quarter without scoring, then the Smash got the game's first touchdown early in the 4th quarter. Armada answered back with their own touchdown to make the game 13-10 Smash.


Both teams continued to battle, until the Armada got a big interception with 16 seconds left in the game. They quickly kicked a game-tying field goal, forcing the game into the first overtime in league history.

The teams went back and forth with no score for 15 minutes, forcing a second overtime.


The Smash scored the game winning touchdown on a five yard cross-field pass with 10:18 left in the second overtime to become league champions with a final score of 20-13.



INTV Bowl I: Mutants v. Destroyers

The first league championship game was a clash of two great teams at the Shark Tank.


The Destroyers jumped out to a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, capitalizing on big defensive plays.


After the Destroyers reached the end zone again, the Mutants came alive and scored 21 points in the 2nd quarter, making the score 23-21 at the half.

The Mutants kicked two field goals while holding off the Destroyers to take a 27-23 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Destroyers marched up the field and kicked a field goal to cut the Mutants lead 27-26 with 13 mins left in the game. Both teams continued to battle, but the Mutants held off the attack to become the first league champions.



Beamriders at Spartans

The first inter-network game in league history was a fight between two teams with a slow start to their seasons.


The Beamriders blasted off to a 20-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.


The Spartans slowly got their offense together to score two touchdowns in the last 30 seconds of the half to make the score 20-16 at halftime.

The Spartans scored a whopping five times in the third quarter and took a 39-23 lead. The Spartans continued to dominate the second half while shutting down the Beamriders to win 52-23, still a league record for the most points in one game.



Mutants at Sharks
11/18/14


Undefeated in the opening week, the two teams battled it out at the Shark Tank.

Both teams held each other to field goals as the Sharks took a 6-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.


The Sharks scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 20-3 lead. The Mutants found the end zone on the final play of the half to make the score 20-10.


The Sharks connected a 30 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to make the score 27-17.

The Sharks defense crumbled in the fourth quarter as the Mutants kicked five field goals to win the game 32-27!



Smash at Bombers
10/7/2015



The Smash threw an interception on the first play of the game. Not a good start.


The Bombers took a 6-0 lead halfway through the first quarter, then the Smash tied it at 6 halfway through the second quarter.


The Smash then got two quick interceptions, leading to 10 points and a 16-6 halftime lead.


The Bombers cut the deficit to 19-16 with a touchdown to end the third quarter.


The Bombers kept dominating as they scored two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win 30-22.
